New Lease Lettings is a pilot scheme funded
through the Welsh Assembly Government with the aim of
increasing the quantity and quality of housing available to
single vulnerable adults. Working closely with targeted
agencies, New Lease Lettings aims to make private rented
accommodation more accessible to vulnerable adults
threatened with or experiencing homelessness.
The scheme, managed by United Welsh and
Gwalia Care & Support in partnership with Caerphilly and
Blaenau Gwent Councils, will offer a significant range of
support services and benefits to the applicant and to the
private landlord, with the aim of making the tenancy
successful for both parties.
The scheme offers landlords up to a 3 year
lease with a guaranteed rental income, paid directly
throughout the term even if there are periods where the
property is unoccupied. Significantly, the scheme provides
a full property management package carried out by United
Welsh ensuring that the property is kept in good repair and
returned in its original condition. The team at United
Welsh will also ensure that ongoing housing support is
provided to the tenant, helping them gain greater
independence and sustain a successful tenancy.
