The Lime House
The two bedroom Lime House (named after the traditional lime render on the outside wall) follows the unfussy, compact form of a traditional cottage. Welsh skills, suppliers and products have made it one of the UK’s most energy efficient houses.

For example, the triple glazed, insulated windows made in Wales, are the first UK-produced windows to gain official Passivhaus certification. The closed panel timber frame used in both houses, developed with a Welsh contractor, adapts German framing techniques for use with faster-growing, softer Welsh timber.

All of the windows and front door use Welsh larch timber and most of the timber for the doors, wall panels, floor slabs and roof elements is from Welsh forests. The stonework, roof tiles, staircase, solar panels and most of the insulation were made in Wales.
