Incorporating 'Welshness'
Although the ‘Passivhaus’ is predominately a European concept it was always the intention of the project group to learn from the manufacture of these products and look to ‘skill-up’ Welsh companies to meet future requirements. This approach has already come to fruition through the manufacture of the window element for the second property (The Lime House). A number of Welsh based companies have used the learning experience provided from the German windows placed in the first property and have now received ‘Passivhaus’ certification to manufacture a Welsh product. This is a fantastic achievement and further emphasises the projects commitment to support Welsh business.

Design and Build
Pendragon Design and Build were awarded the build contract - a Welsh company based in Cwmbran tackling the Passivhaus for the first time. They have delivered a wonderful building that was received well at the National Eisteddfod.

We were able to use a wide range of Welsh companies in the design and build element of both properties.

It provides a nice snapshot of the emphasis placed on sourcing Welsh produce.
