Tredegar,
named after Lord Tredegar, head of the Morgan family,
can be found about 35 miles north of Cardiff and about
24 miles from Newport.
From being a
quiet rural area In the middle of the 18th century the
town of Tredegar developed rapidly from about 1800 with
the onset of the Industrial Revolution and the setting
up of iron works and coal mines.
The town
today boasts schools, parks, a hospital, shops, pubs and
restaurants, clubs and social centres. It is close to
the Heads of the Valleys road and within striking
distance of Cardiff as well as the Midlands.
