The Association is ‘not for profit’ and
registered with both the National Assembly for Wales (our regulator) and the
Register of Friendly Societies under Charitable Rules.
The Shareholding Members, who elect a Board of
Management to oversee the running of the Association, own the Association. The
Board is responsible for the Association’s strategy and policy framework.
The Board can set up committees to help in
this work. United Welsh currently has two such committees – the Audit & Risk Committee and the
Remuneration & Governance Committee.
Responsibility for the day to day management
of the Association and implementation of the policy framework is delegated to
the Chief Executive who has a Senior Management Team to help. Each member of the
Senior Management Team is an operational Director with teams of staff reporting
to him or her.
As part of their regulatory activity the Welsh Government
assess the Association’s financial viability. Their
Financial Viability Judgement as at 31 March 2011 was
‘Pass’. The full text of the Judgement can be seen
here. |
