United Welsh responds to the needs of Cardiff tenants

United Welsh Housing Association has responded to the needs of its tenants with the opening of a new office in Cardiff.

We have opened an office in Clarence Road, in order to provide a more direct service to tenants in the area.

The association has converted the ground floor level of Walters Buildings in Butetown into a Cardiff base that will make life easier for more than 1000 tenants across Cardiff, Swansea and the Vale of Glamorgan.

United Welsh has over 800 properties in Cardiff alone and a recent survey of tenants recorded a resoundingly positive response to the opening of a more local facility.

With 8 permanent members of staff, the new office will provide a full frontline housing service, allowing tenants to pay their rent, report faults and deal face-to-face with one of the three housing officers based at Walters Buildings. Councillor Lynda Thorne, who was at the opening, said:

"The opening of this office is very significant as it means that Cardiff County Council and United Welsh will actually physically be working closer together, reflecting the way that our two organisations have moved forward to jointly develop services.; I very much look forward to continuing our positive partnership work.”

Janet Waters, area housing manager for United Welsh, said the association was extremely pleased to be able to offer a more local service for Cardiff, as well as the Vale of Glamorgan and Swansea.

“As the number of tenants in these areas has increased, we’ve become aware of the need to provide them with more direct access to the association and we are delighted that the new office will be able to service all their housing needs,” she said.

“We’re very much looking forward to getting to know the tenants served by the Clarence Road office and are confident that the new facility will prove to be of great benefit.”
