Presentation of an X-box consoleVan Community Centre Fun Day

 

On Saturday 22nd July the Van Communities First Partnership held it’s annual ‘Funday’. The event was officially opened by Jeff Cuthbert (AM) who praised the work of the Communities First Partnership and in particular the efforts of Elaine Griffiths who does so much for the Van Community Centre.

 

United Welsh presented the centre with an X-box games console and Elaine herself was presented with a huge bouquet of flowers from all the partners.

 

United Welsh is very supportive of youth work at the Van Enjoying the fun dayCommunity Centre and the presentation of the X-Box is in recognition of the still growing importance of structured youth provision at the Centre.

 

Under a baking sun the event was a huge success. Just some of the activities available included graffiti art, bongo drums, dunk the fire-fighter, a magic show, teddy bear’s picnic and much more.

 

Melanie Smith, a Community Services Worker with United Welsh said, “We are delighted with the support from the local community for the event. It’s great to see so many families having fun and creating such a wonderful social occasion. The Van community centre adds enormous value to the local community and as an organisation we welcome the opportunity to support the centre on day’s like these”.
