‘Homes within Reach’ has been designed to help those people who are unable to buy a home without the financial support offered through the scheme. 

The following criteria help to determine those people who should be considered for the scheme. Please ensure you have reviewed the 10 point checklist before completing and returning an application form. 

The 10 point checklist  

Applicants must: 

1. Be 18 years of age or over
2. Be in permanent employment
3. Be unable to afford a home on full ownership
4. Be able to provide an ‘in principle’ mortgage offer
5. Have no substantial deposits in bank or building society – but will require savings for own costs (eg; legal fees, valuation fees, removal costs and stamp duty); see also ‘Home buying costs’
6. Not be in debt on any existing loan
7. Not be in rent arrears, or in breach of a tenancy agreement
8. Not be receiving Housing Benefit or have received it during the 12 months before the application
9. Not already be home owners – (subject to individual circumstances)
10. Be able to complete a purchase before the scheme deadline date
